DAY  ONE – INTRODUCTION AND OVERVIEW OF FINANCIAL MODELLING

  • Define the terms Model and Financial Model
  • Learn the 10 steps to create good Financial Models
  • The 12 steps to improving traditional Financial Models
  • Use Flow-charting Techniques to improve your model
  • Using Microsoft Excel as a modelling platform
  • Common functions available within Microsoft Excel

DAY TWO – FINANCIAL ANALYSIS MODELS PART 1

  • Create a model linking the four key elements of the income statement
  • Create a model to improve working capital management
  • Use Break-Even Analysis in Financial Models
  • Apply Time Value concepts to Financial Models
  • Use Net Present Value (NPV) and Internal Rate of Return (IRR) models in making Capital Expenditure decisions

 

DAY THREE – FINANCIAL ANALYSIS MODELS PART 2

  • Incorporate Sensitivity Analysis and Scenario Analysis in Financial Models
  • Analyse the optimum time to replace an asset
  • Analyse returns by considering the relationship  between ROE and ROCE
  • Build an Altman Z Score model to analyse an organisation’s financial health
  • Use Financial Models to make Lease vs Buy Decisions

 

DAY FOUR – FINANCIAL RATIO MODELS

  • Identify major Financial Ratios
  • Use Financial Ratios to analyse a firm’s financial performance
  • Use “Peer Group” Analysis to measure a firm’s financial performance
  • Calculate the “Intrinsic” value of a Firm’s Common Stock
  • Construct a Model to evaluate potential Bond Investments

 

DAY 5 – COMPREHENSIVE MODELS AND TOOLS

  • Using tools like Solver and Goal Seek
  • Developing a Financial Optimisation Model
  • Identify the types of financial activities that can be connected in a Model
  • Build the pieces of a “Connected” Model
  • Deal with problems in the development and use of Financial Models
